These incredible young people are reshaping systems, reclaiming space, and building cultures of belonging across Canada.

On September 20, 2025, we hosted our first-ever See Different Changemaker Summit, a national celebration of youth leadership, belonging, and action. Held virtually, the summit brought together youth, educators, parents, and community partners from across Canada to honour the incredible ways young people are shaping a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable future.

2SLGBTQIA+* youth across Canada are powerful, creative, and full of potential. They are community builders, leaders, and Changemakers. Yet many continue to navigate systemic barriers rooted in discrimination and exclusion. These challenges — including housing instability, inequitable mental health outcomes, and increased exposure to violence — are not reflections of who these young people are, but of the systems that were never built with them in mind.

Here’s the reality: Indigenous youth grow up in communities deeply shaped by colonial policies, historical displacement, and ongoing underfunding in areas like education, health, and infrastructure. This context has created real disparities in things like graduation rates, access to services, and mental health outcomes. But the numbers don’t tell the whole story. Each of these projects reflects the agency, vision, and leadership that young people bring to their communities. Through the See Different program, we are not just teaching DEI – we are providing young leaders with the resources to shape the future of inclusion in Canada.
